...well, something about irony, I think.
Sorry folks, I don't have much left in me to make a lengthy, entertaining, or even coherent blog post tonight. I exercised in the morning, then took a quick trip to Fry's to pick up materials for a preschool snack tomorrow. I've also baked 2 batches of pumpkin bread (8 mini-loaves), cooked two dinners, made dessert, helped Lorelai with her homework, taught 3 piano lessons, and put the kids to bed. I still have to prepare my lesson for preschool tomorrow, which I'm hosting.
HOWEVER...I did want to give a quick update on the "Aurora's not sleeping" situation. Last night, she slept through the night for the first time in at least 10 days! Hooray! Tonight, we put her in her crib, and she cried...but only for a few minutes. Then, as far as we know, she was off to dreamland.
Where does the irony come in? Probably in the fact that we moved Aurora's crib into Lorelai & Celeste's bedroom. It was Nathan's idea; he thought that maybe Aurora was lonely in the small bedroom by herself. After church last night (we don't even get home until almost 7pm, by the way), he disassembled the entire crib, hauled it into the girls' north-facing bedroom, reassembled the crib, and voila! Our three girls were sharing a bedroom...again. (hopefully I'll have a picture of this new development soon).
The whole thing has made me think back on our rental home, and how we squeezed all three girls into one bedroom there. Now, in a much bigger home, they're back to the same arrangement! It's amusing and a little silly, but if they get along well, why not let it work? At least this new bedroom is significantly bigger than the last bedroom; there is ample room there for both the bunk bed and the crib (and even for another twin bed, should we decide to keep this up long-term).
All that and Aurora still cried for a good long while after we shut the bedroom door. We also had to hold the door shut for a while, as she tried a couple of escape attempts before collapsing in exhaustion. Hopefully, she'll get used to this arrangement and we'll move forward from there.
One thing is for sure; having two essentially empty bedrooms has already got my (usually dormant) interior decorating juices flowing. I can imagine one bedroom as a "reading room," with chairs, beanbags and all our bookshelves. Another room will be the guest room, thus insuring that more people come to visit from out of town! One thing is for sure; my motivation to paint the remaining two bedrooms has really increased, now that they're not being used. Maybe we'll have one done by Christmas! (yeah, right)
